As much as I REALLY wanted to enjoy the Coleman Fish Pen, it turned out to be a complete disappointment. Despite some features that at first appear to demonstrate surprising quality -- like a very solid-feeling reel (considering its compact size) and more metal parts than plastic -- I was unable to try it out because I realized the last inch of the rod was snapped off. Before I could even tie the rubber testing weight to the end of the line, it was broken without any pressure applied at all.
Insult punctuated injury when I referenced the included 30 warranty, which informed me of an opportunity to receive a second shoddy disappointment for only $7.99 for shipping. For less than $3 more I could just buy another one from Walgreens without the added hassle and expense of a trip to UPS! If your experience is anything like mine, you won't need that 30 warranty because the Coleman Fish Pen won't last 30 minutes.

This rod has no drag, it doesn't work and the quality is terrible. it broke before i could even use it.

Im not a big fishing guy but have fishing rods always in my car trunk. These are nothing to carry by a car but way too big for flight trip. COLEMAN FISH PEN is the best solution. I was thinking what kind of fish live in La Seine (Paris) or rivers in Japan. So next time I will try to fish over there.

Nah,don't think I could recommend this product.The reel is ok,I guess.But the rod is alittle cheap.If you persist on getting it,go to [...] Reason is,the deal on here didn't turn out to be as good when you figure what U get and shipping.My package came partly open and it wasn't packed very good.Go to walmart for that matter.Hey,I'm just being honest.This might be ok for ya kid.
