I got this for my 40D for Christmas, and I fell in love with it right away. Shooting in portrait mode became so much more comfortable, I couldn't tell anymore whether I was shooting in portrait or landscape because it both felt the same. My only issue was that it took me a few minutes to figure out the shutter button as it is not the same as the shutter on the camera, But all you need is to add a little more pressure.

functional. It gets a little time to get used to specially if you've been using your camera for a while without it. Overall I rate it highly necessary.

I purchased this Canon battery grip after owning an off brand type grip. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The quality says it all. If you're looking for a well made grip, get this one

I purchased this for my Canon EOS 50D ( I have always used a battery grip with my Canon's) and I can't imagine life without it.
