I'll agree like most people that this is a great product. Well worth the extra money because it's far superior to other flat irons. HOWEVER!!!!!! If it fails to work properly, good luck getting it replaced. Mine worked fine for about 6 months, when one day it wouldn't turn on. That's when I discovered the Reset button didn't work. The product has a one year warranty, but Amazon has only a 30 day warranty. The product manufacturer says return it to the place you bought it for replacement, but Amazon wouldn't accept those terms. I sent emails to the iron manufacturer as well as the manufacturer of the electrical plug (with the malfunctioning Reset button) but never heard anything from either. I'm stuck with a very expensive non-working appliance.

I don't know what to say about this product. I was convinced it was well worth the money after reading some of the reviews, but after 3 uses it would not turn on anymore! I have no idea what happened. Luckily I purchased it through Amazon, and they are sending me a new one right away. So a word of caution: buy through Amazon in case it breaks; then you have a guarantee that they will replace it if it's less than one month old. Hopefully the new one will live up to the hype! I have been wanting a CHI for years now.

My daughter has long naturally curly course hair. We have tried two different straightening irons over the past 2 years, both would take about 2 hours to 'truly' straighten her hair. I am so amazed at this product! We can now do her hair in about 20 minutes, and it looks as good as when she gets it done at the salon! She has even started to use the iron herself (about to turn 14 yrs old). We have not had any instances of burning her scalp or ears (unfortunately this would happen every few months with the other ones) as the plates on this one are slightly in from the edges (other brands were not). I read many review on here before deciding to go with this one. I was first inclined to buy a 2" one because of her long thick course hair - you do not need it. This one definately does the trick! I took the chance on having no warranty buying from here, but for the price difference, I feel it is worth the risk (I priced them in the salon at $37 more than here). This iron does get very hot - so make sure you buy some type of spray protection to put on your hair too, so it won't damage it. I love that it has a swivel based cord, so it doesn't get all tangled up. It also has a very long cord, which is nice because before I always had to use an extension cord (we usually did her hair on the couch/floor in front of the TV). You will not be sorry you bought this!!! The time it will save you over the store bought ($50 or less) straighteners is sooo worth it! Get your life back! :)

Probably the lemon of the batch - I have a Turbo Chi that works fine that I've had for 2 years but needed a back-up. At this low price, decided to try a Chi that doesn't have a temp control. This one worked fine the first day but the second day it wouldn't turn on.

I bought this straightener after using my friends one day. I have long hair, she has short hair. My hair had already been straightned that day (way earlier) and needed a touch up so I used hers, I loved it then. I bought my own though and wasn;t as satisfied though and I think its because my hair is very long. My old straightener had a comb in the straightener and this one does not so it doesn't separate as it straightens. I end up using my old one then finishing it off with the chi..pain but it works....so if you have short hair I highly recommend this product if not then you may not like it!CHI Ceramic Hairstyling Iron for Silk Smooth Hair Model No. GF-1001
