Amazon.com Product Description Created with health and the environment in mind, these eco-friendly, high-quality stainless steel Klean Kanteen water bottles offer a great alternative to plastic and lined metal containers. Klean Kanteen bottles are constructed from high quality sanitary grade 304 stainless steel which has a low nickel content, an excellent resistance to staining and rust, and will keep your beverages fresh, and sanitary. These reusable bottles are lightweight, easy to clean, durable, and will not react with acidic beverages. The single walled containers can be placed on an open flame or heating surface, but are not recommended as containers for boiling hot liquids as the Kanteen has limited insulating properties. Durable, sanitary, and non-reactive stainless steel is the material of choice among the food processing, dairy and brewery industries. The sanitary grade 304 stainless steel used in Klean Kanteen bottles also has a low nickel content, further reducing exposure to potentially irritating substances. Easy to clean, the Klean Kanteen water bottles can be put in the dishwasher, or washed by hand with a brush and mild soap. Klean Kanteens come in sizes to meet the needs of the entire family. The 12 and 18-ounce containers are designed specifically for kids. In bottles designed for small hands, the 12 and 18 ounce bottles are available with sippy cup lid adapters along with the other sports cap options, and weigh just 6 and 8 ounces respectively. Adult sized 27 and 40 ounce Kanteens weigh just 8 and 11 ounces respectively, and are available with a choice polypropylene or steel caps. The openings are large enough to fit ice cubes, and the slim bottle design fits in most cup and bottle holders. Klean Kanteen water bottles are available with a variety of sports caps made with non-leaching polypropylene #5 or stainless steel. The sport, flat, and loop caps are interchangeable and fit all 12-, 18-, 27-, and 40-ounce stainless steel bottles securely. The Poly Sports Cap has a push release valve allowing you to drink on the go. The Flat Caps, available in polypropylene or stainless steel twist on and off securely. The Loop Caps, available in polypropylene or stainless steel, twist on and off securely, and have a top loop for easy attachment. The polypropylene #5 caps have no known leaching characteristics, and are softer on the teeth and easy to drink from. However, if you would rather avoid plastic altogether, the stainless steel caps are a great option. Specifications: - Non-leaching, toxin-free

Manufacturer's Warranty One-year warranty Frequently Asked Questions Why is the sports cap made of plastic and not stainless steel? Your teeth. Klean Kanteen chose polypropylene #5 because it has no known leaching characteristics and is softer if you hit a bump on the trail. If you'd rather avoid plastic altogether, a stainless steel screw-on lid is available as an accessory. Can I put hot liquids in my Klean Kanteen? No. Klean Kanteen bottles are single walled and not for use with hot liquids. Warm beverages can be used at personal comfort level. The single-walled construction allows for more volume and the option to put your Kanteen on a flame. Can I put my Kanteen in the freezer? We do not recommend it and it will void the one-year warranty against manufacturer defects. Can I put my Kanteen on a stove? In a pinch, the Kanteen can be placed on fire or a stove. Beware not to melt the plastic lid or burn yourself. What is stainless steel? Stainless steel is an iron-containing alloy made from some of the basic elements found on earth: iron ore, chromium, silicon, nickel, carbon, nitrogen, and manganese. Properties of the final alloy are tailored by varying amounts of these elements. There are more than 57 stainless steels recognized as standard alloys on the market. Klean Kanteens are constructed from high quality sanitary grade 304 stainless steel which has a low nickel content. Stainless steel has excellent resistance to stain or rust due to its chromium content making it a material of choice among the food processing, dairy and brewery industries. Stainless steel is easy to clean, durable, inert and sanitary.

Perfect size for a purse August 28, 2008 water drinker (USA) I like the size of this water bottle for carrying in a purse.
I am happy with it. No problems so far.
Made in China...no wonder it's so cheap! August 27, 2008 Dr. Vern Lindquist (NY USA) This bottle is made in China. Their website claims that it is impossible to source the manufacturing "closer to home." That's baloney. SIGG has a subsidiary in the US...which is why it is worth the extra price.
Excellent Leach-free bottle that will last a lifetime! August 26, 2008 D. Reed After hearing both negative and positive reviews, I decided to buy the Klean Kanteen and give a review myself. First, I want to talk about those who reviewed it poorly. I have heard everything from people saying it leaks, to people saying it tastes like metal.
First, I bought a poly flat cap which comes with a polyurethane gasket-loop inside that 100% keeps the bottle leak-free. I have dropped it, left it in my bag upside down, left it in the heat, in the cold, and NOTHING has affected its ability to effectively stay air tight.
Next, I have heard people talking about a taste of metal. I experienced the taste at first, but its because I didn't clean the bottles correctly. I know some people just put soap in and shake it, but thats not enough. I went to target and bought a great, round, bottle scrubber and clean the kanteen with soap everyday before bed. Also, I use the bottle scrubber on the the top mouth part where the metal bends back to ensure I cleaned everything that touches my mouth. Since I have been doing this, the bottle tastes like NOTHING. It tastes as fresh as when you drink from a glass at home.
Besides being an excellent drinking device, it'll save you a HUGE amount of money. Before having this, I would buy the large cases of water for about $5. Because I drink alot of water, id go through each case in a week. This means I was spending $20 a month purely on plastic water bottles. On top of this, I would buy beverages when I went out to restaurants or fast food joints if I forgot my plastic bottle or left it in the hot car (which would make it develop a bad taste). This would spike my expenses probably another $20 a month. That is about $40 A MONTH IN BEVERAGES!!!! This $17 kanteen is the only thing I carry around and drink from and it has saved me a BUNDLE!
On top of saving a wad of cash, I also have peace of mind knowing that I don't pollute or ruin the environment, while also saving my health from harmful chemicals that have been proven to leak from plastic bottles.
In conclusion, this has been one of the best investments I have ever had!
Clean and Simple August 26, 2008 KaHuNaZ (California) Purchased the 40.oz Stainless Kleen Kanteen about two months ago. So far so good. Ive read that the threading on the bottle is too loose, but I havent had a problem yet. Seals tight and doesnt leak. The only time I get a metallic taste is when I use unfiltered tap water. Ive used it for gatorade, tea, water, juices and soda. I use it every day and it hasnt had any problems with residual flavor from juices or gatorade left overnight. the only con is that it sweats, but that was expected. Hopefully in the future Kleen Kanteen will come out with a double walled or insulated version. Id recommend this to my friends.
Order placed but nothing received! August 25, 2008 Ginny Wilcox (Bay area, CA USA) I am glad to hear that some people are still receiving water bottles from this company, but I bought a total of 4 bottles (2 seperate orders 1st being a mistake in canteen size)from this company back on July 3,2008 and have yet to receive any. They charged my visa for the orders immediately,of course.
I originally asked them to change my 1st order which was a mistake and they said they could not change an order but they will cancel that one and I needed to re-order the correct size. I re-ordered the following day and that was the last I heard from them, except for the charges on both orders. I have written numerous emails and have recieved zero response. I would say to others ***be careful ordering from them**** I am begining to wonder if anyone is still working there!
