Wrong ItemAugust 11, 2008 M. Eaves(Oak Harbor, WA USA) I was surprised that this security bar was limited in the size. I have a doggie door in the patio frame, so my patio glass door does not close to the full length of the door frame. The security bar would not become small enough.
The product was very well made and felt very strong. I would have been very happy with it but for the doggie door.
Door Bar Failed on Forced EntryAugust 6, 2008 YMIME(Hollywood, FL) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Keep in mind that this bar is only a deterrent that will slow a burglar, but not stop them. I had this door bar installed at the front entrance. The garage door did not open with the remote, so I had to go in through the front house door.
It held for a while, but I was able to lean into the door several times and finally, the pop pins bent and failed, and the the bar fell onto the floor. Although I was thankful at the time, I realized that this device is usefull to slow someone down, (While you go get the 20 guage) not to stop them.
If you want a VERY secure device, look elsewhere.
A good way to add a layer of security.August 2, 2008 Mindi Allen(Illinois) We bought this and use it as a tension bar in our sliding glass door. My concern was our toddler getting out and no one hearing him. We did the dowel in the bottom track and he figure it out pretty quickly. So this is jammed up high and it is pretty easy to get out and put back in.
It keeps the kid in!July 31, 2008 A. McGlynn(Chicagoland, IL) This product does what it says it will do. It's a no-muss, easy install, and it definitely keeps the door closed and keeps my preschooler (who can unlock our patio door) IN. It's also easy to pull out when we need to use the door.
EDIT: The plastic foot on this stopper broke recently when it fell out of the patio door (I assume). Seems like it should be able to hold up better than that, but it's probably glueable and still a good product.
Excellent and sturdy!July 30, 2008 RanCat815(Babylon Village, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This door security bar has many height adjustments and is very sturdy. The rubber footing is much larger than on most other brands and grabs onto the floor well. The rubber part that fits around the doorknob is substantial in size. The door guard can also easily be used on patio doors. If you have any doors with questionable locks or that are not that strong, you might consider purchasing these. I am sleeping more peacefully now, thanks to these door guards! :-D
